Venetian stucco (stucco veneziano) is one of the most refined finishes you can apply to a wall. Somewhere between craft and art, it turns a plain wall into a deep, marbled, luminous surface. At Casa Renova, it's one of our specialities. Here's everything you need to know.
Venetian stucco is a decorative coating made of slaked lime and fine marble powder. Born in Venice during the Renaissance, it was used in palaces to imitate real marble at a lower cost and with unmatched lightness. Applied in successive thin layers and then smoothed, it develops a depth and sheen that ordinary paint cannot reproduce.
Application is entirely by hand and requires genuine skill. It happens in several stages:

It suits almost any room: living rooms, entrances, bedrooms, but also bathrooms and kitchen splashbacks thanks to its excellent moisture resistance once waxed. It's often reserved for a single feature wall, for an effect that is both understated and striking.
